A U.S. Marine Corps veteran from California is in line to receive the Medal of Honor, our nation’s highest award for valor in action against an enemy force.

Retired Sgt. Maj. John Canley, of Oxnard, will receive the award for his actions during the Battle of Hue in Vietnam in 1968. He learned the news in a phone call from President Donald Trump earlier this month.
