This week, four World War II veterans received the Legion of Honor medal from the Consul of France in San Francisco, Emmanuel Lebrun-Damiens. The ceremony was held at the Residence of France in San Francisco on July 10.
The four California veterans honored are:
- Vito Mastrangelo, Technical Sergeant, of Visalia;
- Ryan M. O’Brien, First Lieutenant, of Fair Oaks;
- Peter Schantz, Private First Class, of Castro Valley; and
- Nathan Shoehalter, Private First Class, of Berkeley.
