Four California veterans receive Legion of Honor Medal

This week, four World War II veterans received the Legion of Honor medal from the Consul of France in San Francisco, Emmanuel Lebrun-Damiens. The ceremony was held at the Residence of France in San Francisco on July 10.

The four California veterans honored are:

  • Vito Mastrangelo, Technical Sergeant, of Visalia;
  • Ryan M. O’Brien, First Lieutenant, of Fair Oaks;
  • Peter Schantz, Private First Class, of Castro Valley; and
  • Nathan Shoehalter, Private First Class, of Berkeley.
