Gallery: Celebration of Life ceremony for Yountville victims

More than 1,200 dignitaries, community members, families and veterans filled Lincoln Theater on the campus of the Veterans Homes of California — Yountville to capacity Monday night to honor and remember three brave women who lost their lives in service to veterans last Friday.

The Pathway Home’s Executive Director Christine Loeber, Clinical Director Jennifer Gray Golick and Dr. Jennifer Gonzales Shushereba, a clinical psychologist with the San Francisco Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare, were all remembered as immensely talented women who cared deeply about veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Yountville Mayor John Dunbar, Congressman Mike Thompson, The Pathway Home’s Chair of the Board of Directors, Dorothy Salmon, Veterans Health Administration Executive Dr. Carolyn Clancy, and VITAL and Student Affairs Health Program San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System Director Keith Armstrong joined CalVet Secretary Dr. Vito Imbasciani as dignitaries at the podium.

The three accomplished women, whose memory and life’s work we are honoring today, did not wear the uniform of the United States Army or of the Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard. But make no mistake – they served with us.

Zach Skiles, a graduate of the Pathway Home’s program, also spoke on behalf of hundreds of veterans impacted by the non-profit organization, some of whom were in the crowd.
