This week, volunteers set up for Saturday’s event in Yountville by placing wreaths on grave sites.

Each December, Wreaths Across America volunteers place holiday wreaths on graves and columbaria at more than 1,400 veterans’ cemeteries in all 50 U.S. states, at sea, and abroad to remember our fallen veterans, honor those who serve, and teach our children the value of freedom.

If you’re looking for a way to honor veterans this holiday season, join CalVet and Wreaths Across America for wreath-laying ceremonies this Saturday,  December 15 at our California veterans cemeteries in Yountville, Seaside, and Igo.

“While it is understood that we have Veterans Day in the fall and Memorial Day in the spring, our service members sacrifice their safety every single day of the year to preserve our freedoms and there is there is no better time to express our appreciation than during the solemnity of the holiday season,” said Dr. Vito Imbasciani, Secretary of the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet).

Last year, Wreaths Across America volunteers helped set up wreaths at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo.

With this mission in mind, wreath donations and volunteers are needed throughout the state to support these great events.

The ceremony in Seaside will begin at 10 a.m., while the events in Igo and Yountville will begin at noon.
