Mark your calendar for July 19, when the California State Fair will host Military and Veteran Appreciation Day. All active duty and reserve members, and veterans from all branches of the military will enjoy free fair admission.
The whole day will focus on celebrating the individuals and organizations that keep our country safe. There will be a showcase of military vehicles, representatives from military organizations, and our must-see MRE Cooking Challenge, hosted by CalVet and the California Military Department.
If you missed the event last year, see our recap of the 2017 MRE Cooking Challenge. This year promises to repeat the fun with new contestants, celebrity judges, free swag and a championship twist!
For free admission, veterans or military personnel must present valid military ID or proof of service at the California State Fair’s box office. Also, this year, free admission is expanded to include active duty spouses and dependents until 3:00 p.m. on July 19 with a valid military ID. For more information, visit the State Fair website.
Be sure to follow CalVet on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube for future announcements regarding the fair and the MRE Cooking Challenge.
