Frederick Just, of Riverside, joins CalVet as the new administrator of our flagship facility, the California Veterans Home at Yountville.
“I’m thrilled to get started. I look forward to creating an environment for everyone to succeed and to provide the highest quality of care that we possibly can,” Just said.
He has spent much of the past 15 years at Kaiser Permanente, where he served in several roles, including assistant hospital administrator, transition director and director of facilities services for the Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center and for the Kaiser Permanente Ontario Medical Center, and assistant hospital administrator and area safety leader for the Kaiser Permanente Modesto Medical Center.
Prior to that, he served as director of construction and engineering at the Tri-City Medical Center from 2002 to 2005 and director of construction and plant engineering at the Firelands Regional Medical Center from 1994 to 2002.
“Fred’s long career providing leadership for healthcare facilities in operational, clinical and programmatic roles prepares him well for the challenge of running one of the oldest and largest veterans homes in the nation,” said Dr. Vito Imbasciani, CalVet Secretary. “The Yountville Veterans Home is the equivalent of a small town with all of the various responsibilities one would expect.”
Just is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He holds a Master of Advanced Studies degree in leadership of healthcare organizations from the University of California, San Diego.
He was appointed by Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. in April and was sworn in at the home on June 6.
